Now, HOW to donate.  With the physical donations (school supplies, clothing, etc.) it is best that these get to me and then I will take them with me when we travel.  They can be mailed to my home address (207 Burnham Rd. Troy, ME 04987), or we can arrange a drop off/pick up. Please be in touch!
If you would like to donate money, checks can be made payable to Bethany Christian Home for Children.  These can be mailed or delivered to me as well and I will bring them when I travel. Any monetary donations will go directly to the costs of running the orphanage (electricity, water, etc.) as well as supplies for the children (food, clothes, diapers, formula etc.).

If you have any questions at all I would love to answer them and tell you more about our trip! Please be in touch!

Much love and God bless,

Hello Friends and Family

Hello Friends and Family!

As many of you know, I will be travelling to Talakag Bukidnon on the island of Mindanao in the Philippines with two of my brothers, Nick and Brady, this summer.  For ten days we will visit and volunteer at Bethany Christian Home for Children.  This program not only provides a Christian home for orphaned and abandoned children, but also runs a Christian school available to children in the community.

Through my research into the institution and my conversations with the dedicated individuals that have made the home their life’s work I have learned of the unfortunate monetary situation that they have fallen into.  Since founder Louise Lynip’s death in 2006, the program has struggled to come up with the funds essential to running the home and school.  Many of the workers have deferred their monthly wage in order to feed and clothe the children.  Bethany also tries to fund the college education of the older orphans, a comparably small fee of around $600 a year.  Unfortunately, in recent years the college age students have been forced to drop out because of lack of funds.

My hope is that our trip will not only provide the facility with donations and helping hands but will most importantly raise awareness about this beautiful place that gives children a second chance at a family and teaches them about the love of God.

I write to you not only because I am tremendously excited about this adventure, but also to ask for your help.  First of all, please help me spread the word about our trip and about Bethany Christian Home for Children. You can do this by sharing this letter or by sharing the link to my blog (lornaharriman.wordpress.com), where I will post regular updates before, during, and after the trip.  You can also support us with whatever donations you are willing to make.  School supplies, clothing, and money to buy diapers, formula, and pay for higher education are all needs that those running the program have shared with me.  We will be taking extra suitcases filled with these donations when we travel, and I will post a separate blog detailing what is needed and how these donations can be made.   Most importantly, you can support us with your prayers.

Thank you for taking the time to read this letter, I hope it fills you with as much excitement as it has me!  Please don’t hesitate to contact me if you would like to learn more about our trip or how you can help.

 Much love and God bless,
